On the Field
Adult Football
The seniors began their Division 1 campaign with a 2 point victory over Oughterard in very tough conditions last Saturday. The team started slowly playing against a very defensive home opposition but gradually got into the game. It was great to see Gary Cox back for another season, and he played extremely well. a special mention to Shane Kelly who made his long awaited come back after a torid time with injury and has also been drafted into the Galway U20 panel. Final score 0-9 to 0-7. Next up in St. James at home on Sunday evening.

SK U16 Girls Football Update Tues 10/4/18
Letterfrack and The Inagh Valley never looked so good as the Victorious SK U16 girls coasted back to The City having lowered the local Grainne Mhaols Girls Banner with a fine 6-4[22 pts] to 2-9[15 pts] victory in Game 3 of the 2018 Div 2 league.
Great credit is due to the Girls that travelled out West and took on Grainne Mhaols on their home pitch. County Star Emma Madden again gave an outstanding performance and was superbly backed up by all the other Girls who dug in and demonstrated to the opposition that they were not just out for a site seeing Sunday drive.
Grainne Mhaols started with a Double marker tactic on SK full forward Emma Madden. It worked for a while but eventually Emma struck for four goals with sublime balls being fed inside by the Girls outfield.
SK turned over well ahead at halftime but Grainne Mhaols closed the gap to just 2 points with approx. 15 Min's to go. SK girls again dug in and worked very hard for the final Qtr to finish Stronger than G.Mhaols.
Great credit goes to the Girls and Selectors for devising and implementing counter measure tactics to offset the Double marker on County Player Emma Madden.
Next Up is 1/4 Final planned for weekend of 14/15th April. Watch this space as the play offs unfold.
Again Many Thanks to the Supporters, Parents, 1st Aider, Selectors, Umpires and The Mum that volunteered to wash the Fantastic new Jerseys.

Coaching Corner
Another great Hurling/Camogie Academy is running in the Arus this week, with over 80 players, aged 9 to 14, taking part - in spite of the weather!
A big shout out to our own young club coaches, drawn from our minor and adult hurling and camogie teams, who are working hard all week with our next generation of players: Matthew Keane, Siobhán Divilly, Eimear Kelly, Sarah Keane, Ailbhe O'Grady, Ronan McGuinness.
In addition, three coaches from our current Transition Year Work Experience Programme are developing their coaching skills further by helping out: Brian Palmer, Eoin O'Neill and Diarmuid Munroe. Delighted also to have had coaches from around the county, including county under 21 star Evan Niland and Galway's own Gerry Spelman and Michael Gallagher. A big thank you to Clodagh Cox and Joe Maguire for help with the administration, to Clem Garvey, to John Donohue and James Molloy for facilitating access to the Prairie and the Arus and finally, to all the coaches and parents who organised the kids to attend. A true club effort!
