Our U15's played Padraig Pearses on Monday evening in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe in the County C Final. It was a game described as a fantastic performance by both teams. But it was heart break for our team and management at the end. We got off to possibly the worst start before the ball was even thrown in with an injury to our goalkeeper. Pearses had a 9 point lead after 15 mins. The Salthill Knocknacarra boys had to dig deep and that they did. We got it back to a 2 point game at the break. SKGAA 1:07 to PP 2:06 .
The 2nd half was edge of the seat stuff. The lead changed so many times and with 7 minutes to go we had built up a 3 point lead. But Pearses found an extra gear and scored a goal to equalise. All square on the hour mark the killer blow came in injury time, a long ball in got a slight touch and ended up in the back of the net. It was heart breaking but the lads put in a fantastic performance and have done so since the start of the Championship.
The U15 management would like to thank all the players and their families. A special thanks also to Dr. David Hanney, it makes life easy when you have a professional on the line to deal with all injuries. And last but not least huge thanks to our coach Matthew Keane. Matthew came on board this year and has put in a brilliant seasons work not only with the 15's, but also our 14’s & 13's.
