Crosshaven AFC

Juniors took a trip to glamire on Sunday to take on riverstown in the 1st round of the John Hayes cup. On a very hot day we were pumped and ready to go from the off. It only took 5 mins for Rory Buckley to stick the ball in the back of the Riverstown net. We dominated the game from the off and with 17 mins gone Neil Murphy got forward and struck a low shot, which managed to go through about 5 bodies and the keeper into the net. The blues were flying at this stage. 5 mins to go in the 1st half, we were awarded a free kick 35 yards out. Up steps Neil again and fired a rocket over the keeper into the back of the net. (Big debate as to whether it was a shot or a cross) either way it was in the back of the net and seen the blues comfortable going in at halftime 3-0. Start of the second half saw the introduction of a few fresh legs, which saw the blues completely dominate and create loads of chances. Only 5 mins into the second half with some great play saw Tadgh Shanahan get a bit of space and put the ball in the back of the net. 10mins later with a ball across the box saw Nicky Pike on the end of it, who tucked it passed the keeper. 2 mins after a great ball from Cian Kingston to Rory who turned his man and put the ball over to keeper to the path of Nicky who tucked it away, but unfortunately was just offside. We kept control of the game right till the end. Great performance by all players today. Final score Crosshaven 5 - 0 Riverstown. Man of the Match today was Neil Murphy who got 2 great goals and cleared every ball from our defence. 

We face St Mary's at home next Saturday in the league. We are playing fantastic football and are on a great run of form, so it should be a great game.
