JUVENILE

Under-6 & Under-8: Great fun was had by all at our under-6 and under-8 hurling tournament held in Nenagh last Saturday. Thanks to the Silvermines and Roscrea for showing up in great numbers and to all the young boys and girls who were a credit to their clubs. Thanks also to all the parents who helped with the catering operation. Check the club Facebook page for Tom Doherty's super photos of the day.

Under-14: Our under-14 hurlers played Toomevara in the third round of the championship on Wednesday last in Toomevara. In a fairly even first half the home team led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break. The Blues started the second half brightly and took the lead with a Seán Phelan goal following a good diagonal pass from Barry Coffey. However, Toomevara responded with three successive goals. Éire Óg battled well to the end and were rewarded with two Seán Shanahan goals. However, it wasn't enough and Toomevara ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 3-8. We play our final group game on Wednesday, July 23rd against Silvermines in Nenagh at 6.30pm with a place in the semi-finals place at stake. Please come out and support the lads.

Under-16: On Friday evening the under-16 panel had a talk with fellow Nenagh man and former Munster, Leinster and Ireland second row Trevor Hogan from Knockalton. Amongst other things Trevor spoke about the values and life lessons he learned from participation in sport and stressed the importance of community, the group dynamic, overcoming obstacles and the value of training. He stressed the importance of a group reacting positively to obstacles and the power that can generate in a squad. Everybody took a lot from the discussion. The club and

under-16 panel and management would like to sincerely thank Trevor for his time and effort in accommodating us. The game against Roscrea scheduled to take place on Monday evening was postponed as a mark of respect to the Flynn family on their recent loss. Our next match is against Kildangan on Monday July 28th in Nenagh.

NENAGH HANDBALL CLUB

Well done to Sinéad Meagher and her partner Ella Donnellan of Clare on reaching the girls under-15 60x30 final at the nationals in Kilkenny at the weekend. Unfortunately they lost out to a Kildare-Roscommon combination on a score of 31-27 in an excellent match. Well done girls.

Hard luck also to Shane Spillane and Denis Lenihan of Ballinahinch on losing the Men's C Nationals Plate final in Clonmel on Saturday. In a game that could have gone either way the lads lost out 21-19.

Cameron Spillane lost out to Matthew Spain of Lahorna in the boys

under-13 north final on Friday while Meaghan Morris will contest the girls under-11 north final in Ballina on Monday night. We wish her the best of luck.
