Weekly Notes Castlewellan GAC 16 March 2014

* So the days are now getting longer and everyone will be cracking the old saying and dare I say it “there’s a quare stretch in the evenings!” When that last Sunday in March comes and the hour has been added on, it can only mean one thing – Spring Lake Challenge Time! This year’s Spring Lake Challenge will take place on Sunday 30 March 2014 starting at our Clubrooms at 1.00pm. There will be a 5K and a 10K race. There will be various male/female and other prizes. The entrance fee for the race is £8.00. There will be tea, sandwiches and light refreshments in the club afterwards. This is one of the fun events of the year. We ask everyone who is participating in the event and have not yet registered for the race to please come early to the event and get the necessary administration work out of the way. This will help the administration staff and your co-operation will very much appreciated.

* The season kicked off last Sunday for the Seconds Team Footballers in the All County Premiere Reserve League. They recording an opening win against our local neighbours The Liatriom Fontenoys in what was a grinded out result. Heavy pitches and by virtue of it being a season opening fixture then it was always going to be a difficult game. Still a win is a win and a nice start for the lads.

* ACTIV8 continues this week with events that include; Salsa Dancing, Tag Rugby, Running, Yoga, Circuits, Ballroom Dancing, Zumba, Hiking, Tai-Chi, Basketball, Archery* (surcharge of £5), Chair Aerobics, Netball, Pilates, Walking, Cycling and lots more. Again all for just £30!!! There is also a social aspect to this programme and we'll be planning a few nights and evenings as well and as everyone who participated last year will testify, its good craic too. So if your new year’s resolutions are distant memories and you want a challenge then this is the perfect programme for you.

* Anyone interested in juvenile coaching in football, hurling or camogie please contact John O’Neill on 07711737610
