U10 Footballers advance in Leinster

Last Wednesday evening Edenderry's under 10 Community Games football team travelled to Emo in Laois to take on the home side in the first round of the Leinster Community Games. After a great game Edenderry emerged winners on a scoreline of 3-04 to 1-08.

In a tight opening half Emo just about shaded the play as they held the slenderest of leads at halftime by 0-06 to 1-02, with all of Edenderry's scores coming from the accurate Aaron Mangan.

In the second half Edenderry outscored Emo by 2-02 to 1-02, ensuring a two point victory for The Reds. Edenderry had a better spread of scoring in the second half, as Martin Keogh Jr. hit a goal and a point, Eoghan Brereton sent over a great point, while Aaron Mangan crashed another goal to the Emo net.

This was a great team performance against a really good Emo side that have beaten Edenderry in this competition in for the last two years. It wouldn't be fair to single out any individual player for their performance but special mention should go to Cathal Farrell and Conor Dempsey for playing with a chest infection and tonsillitis respectively.

Sincere apologies to substitutes Chad Brennan and Ger McCabe. Unfortunately both players didn't get a run against Emo, but both players will start in Edenderry's next outing against Ballinamere/Durrow on Sunday 13th June.

Team: Briain Nolan; Daniel Maguire, Jack Guing, Ruairi Egan; Josh Perry, Daniel Lowry, Ben Lynch; Cathal Farrell, Alan Harte; Conor Dempsey, Ryan Glynn, Martin Keogh Jr. (1-1); Eoin Tyrell, Aaron Mangan (2-2), Eoghan Brereton (0-1).

Substitutes: Lee Pearson for Eoin Tyrell, Chad Brennan, Ger McCabe.

Special 'Supporter of the Week' award to Dean Dempsey, runners up prize to Martin Keogh Sr
