Lorrha GAA News for 20 August

All Ireland Final Preview Night: Lorrha GAA are hosting an All Ireland Hurling Final Preview Night in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh on Thursday, 1 September at 8.30pm. Some of the country’s leading hurling pundits will be present to look ahead to the big game between Tipperary and Kilkenny, including Ken Hogan, Daithi Regan, Tony Considine and Kilkenny duo Denis Byrne and James Ryall. Tickets cost €20 and can be bought from the Abbey Court Hotel, the Nenagh Guardian offices or you can book your tickets by contacting secretary Kevin Hough on 086-0515324. All those who purchase tickets will also be entered into a draw for a pair of stand tickets to the All Ireland Final.

Senior: The seniors reached the Division 2 League Final with a terrific 1-23 to 1-22 win over Ballingarry in Templetuohy on Saturday evening. In a evenly contested game, Lorrha showed great character to fight back and force extra time and managed to get their noses in front in extra time and stayed there. Lorrha will play Boherlahan in the final.

Minor Hurling: The minors reached the semi-finals of the ‘A’ hurling championship after a 1-16 to 2-6 win over Kilruane MacDonaghs in Borrisokane last Thursday. Lorrha will meet Nenagh Éire Óg in the semi-final on Wednesday, 24 August in Cloughjordan @ 6.30pm

Minor Football: The minor ‘A’ football final against Ballina will be played in the coming weeks. Keep and eye on the notes for details.

U16: The U16’s enjoyed a big win over Portroe in Moatfield last week. Last Monday they took on Borrisokane in their final group game. News next week.

U14: Training continues every Thursday evening from 7.00 to 8.00pm.

U13: Lorrha are competing in a new U13 Plate Hurling competition and begin against Shannon Rovers in Moatfield on Wednesday (this evening) @ 7.00pm

Tipperary: Well done to Patrick Maher and the Tipperary senior hurlers against Dublin in the All Ireland semi-final in Croke Park on Sunday.
Best of luck to the Tipperary minor footballers in the All Ireland semi-final against Roscommon at Croke Park on Sunday.

All Ireland Final Tickets: All Ireland Final tickets will be drawn for at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, 31 August @ 9.00pm. As our allocation is unlikely to serve the demand, tickets will be drawn for among fully paid up club members only. Tickets are €80 for stand and €40 for terrace. There are no Family or Club Pass tickets.

Tipperary Training Fund Draw: Tickets are available for the Tipperary hurlers and footballers Training Fund Draw. Tickets are €10 and top prize is a Trip for 2 to the International Rules Series in Australia this October; 2nd Prize is a Trip for 2 on the Hurling All Stars Trip to San Francisco in November while there are other prizes of tickets to both the Hurling and Football All Ireland Finals. Contact any committee member for details.

Parish Golf Outing: The Lorrha Parish Golf Outing takes place in Birr Golf Club on Saturday, 27 August. Tee Times available from 9.00am. Timesheet with Tony Coen on 087-6219639.

Tipperary Draw: We are now four months into the 2011/2012 Draw and all promoters are asked to gather all outstanding monies as soon as possible.

Old Time Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Brendan Lee. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
