Bride Rovers GAA Club Notes For The Week.

Under 21 Football off

We were due to play Erins Own in the east Cork U21 B FC last Saturday afternoon in Lisgoold but the game went off. His was due to the fact that Erins were involved in the Junior A grade football c ship at he weekend. Their JAFC game V Russell Rovers was scheduled for Wednesday night but was put back so the u21 game went off. As it turned out Erins Own defeated Russell Rovers by a single point. This means we are now down to play Russell Rovers this weekend in the Second round 'Backdoor' game in the
Junior Football. At the time of writing no definite date, venue or time has been fixed.

2010 Cork County Senior Hurling league.
Blackrock 2-13 Bride Rovers 2-08

Bride Rovers second game in the Red FM Sponsored Senior Hurling League finished in defeat to Blackrock on Sunday morning last in Church Road. Playing with a strong wind in the opening half, Blackrock had the Rovers defence under constant pressure but some good defending by Brendan O’Driscoll, Brendan Walsh & Aidan Collins kept Blackrock at bay. Blackrock opened the scoring with a pointed 65 which was followed by a point by Donal Ryan. Another Blackrock point was followed by a goal from a 21 metre free but the Rovers responded immediately with a goal from Donal Ryan. Almost immediately Blackrock extended their lead with another goal & point to extend their lead.
Three points by Barry Johnson (2 from frees) and two points from Blackrock resulted in a half time lead for Blackrock of 4 points, 2-05 to 1-04. With the wind to our backs for the second half hopes were high that we could get a result but we failed to take advantage of it and while we had the majority of possession we could not breakdown the experienced Blackrock defence. The Rovers added a further 1-04 in the 2nd half, the goal coming from Michael Collins while the points were scored by Jerome O’Driscoll (2), Barry Johnson & Sean Ryan.
However Blackrock scored 8 points to leave the final score 2-13 to 2-08.
