On Sunday 23rd February 2014 Kilmainhamwood GFC got their Division 3 league campaign off to a satisfactory start as they shared the points with St. Brigid's at the well appointed Kilmainhamwood grounds. The 'Wood got off to a perfect start and raced into a 1-01 to no score lead in the first couple of minutes. Michael Berrill, the ex-Gaeil Colmcille players' first touch for the 'Wood end with the ball in the back of the net after great combination work from league debutant, Martin Shields combined with Michael Shankey, Paudi Owens, and Stephen Kiernan. This was followed up by a Harry Corbally point from the resulting kickout. After St. Brigid's registered their first point Seán Mulligan stoked over a fine effort for the home side. St. Brigid's got a goal off a re-bound after keeper Johnny Carolan saved the initial one-on-one effort but the 'Wood were quick to respond with great work from Andy Farrelly in the middle of the field resulting in a Stephen Kiernan point.

Kilmainhamwood pushed on when Michael Shankey got in on the action with a second fisted goal after great work from Shane Clarke, Andy Farrelly and provider Kiernan. Shankey then added to his tally with a fisted point near the end of the first half.

A mistake in the K-wood defence before the break let St. Brigid's in for their second goal and they followed up this effort with another point, through a free. But it was the 'Wood who concluded the first half scoring with another Mulligan point. This left the wood leading by three at the break. Half Time Score K-Wood 2-05 St. Brigid's 2-02

Kilmainhamwood made two defensive changes at the break with the introduction of Stephen Smith and Shane Russell. The first ten minutes of the second half saw both teams getting on the scoreboard, through two Kiernan points and St. Brigid's hitting one.

Kiernan then added his fourth through a free but this effort was cancelled out when Brigid's hit a point from play. St. Brigid's were on the rise at this stage and hit their third goal off another re-bound after keeper Carolan made another fine save. Brigid's followed up the goal with another point from play.

But the 'Wood did not lie down and Kiernan hit the post after great work from Shane Clarke and substitutes Francis Owens and David Russell. Russell followed up with a point, leaving the 'Wood one up with a few minutes left. But a point from a free drew the Brigid's level.

The 'Wood then thought they hit the winner through a fifth Kiernan point after great work from Paudi Owens. But Kilmainhamwood's defence conceded a late free which Brigid's slotted over with ease, leaving both teams to share the points.

Best for the Wood were Johnny Carolan, Sean Mulligan, Padraig Barber, Harry Corbally, Padraig Owens, Michael Shankey and Stephen Kiernan.
