On Saturday, the 26th August 2017 between 10am and 1pm, The Wood Warrior Run took center stage. Around 100 people completed the course through the Crystal Maze, cargo net, river walk and through the tunnel under the road before turning up the hill and down the water slide, then crossing the river and into the gutter and muck of the soggy bottom of Keenaghan Farm. Up the muddy pass and up the hill and over the bales and up the next hill and up the next hill and round the field over the horse jumps. Then its two treacherous jumps over water before tough runs around never-ending fields and then through a ditch to the top of the world. It’s down-hill from here through more fields and into the glen a few times before descending at pace to the mucky pass again and across the river and up the water-slide and around the top of the field and under the bridge and sprint for the line and home. It was a fantastic weekend with the team breaking in the course on Friday night … still waiting on Benny Reilly to come home … before the main event on Saturday with Paudie Owens setting the record of 35 minutes closely followed by Ken Russell and Johnny Corrigan. Cormac McMahon deserved a special mention as he posted a time of 36 minutes on his second attempt in quick succession. Tonight people that were unavailable on Saturday got an opportunity to do it … someone had to show them the course so yours truly completed it for the second time this weekend … and shaved three minutes off my time completing it in 42 minutes … I thank you!

Also on Saturday between 2pm and 6pm, our club hosted a Sports Day with a 7-a-side tournament played with all the juvenile players picked across a number of teams. It was a great day of fun for all the family and huge credit goes to Liam & Orla Vaughan for organizing it. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who help organise both events and thank everyone who supported and participated.

After the medal presentation and before the closing ceremony, we held our draw and here are the winners:-
  - Paul Shankey : 2 x All-Ireland Hurling final tickets
  - Noel Shankey : 2-night stay at The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel
  - Peter Flood     : One-year subscription to the Kilmainhamwood GFC online lotto

Finally, we are looking for a new first-team coach for 2018. Please let us know if you are interested. Michael Clarke in stepping down after a number of years at the helm and we would like to thank him for all his hard work and dedication and wish him the best in future coaching roles.

Regards,
Shane Russell & the lotto committee
